The world-renowned Donkey Sanctuary is situated close by and is easily reached via the field trail.  Visit, for free, to see how state-of-the-art donkey care combined with patient kindness really works!

There’s a top class golf driving range half a mile away.  Alternatively, you can take a real challenge with a game on Nigel Mansell’s championship course at Woodbury.
 

Beer, 3 miles away, is a quaint  fishing village where the local skippers can take you mackerel fishing.  Alternatively, be your own guide, hire a boat and potter around the sheltered bay at your own pace. Visit Beer Quarry Caves where the excavated stone has been used in many famous buildings and was even used in Roman Times.

Branscombe, 1.5 miles away, is the longest village in England and offers a working thatched forge, drive-on beach and two wonderful pubs hosting vigorous beer festivals.  If  beer isn’t to your liking treat yourself to a scrumptious Clotted Cream Tea!

And when the summer nights draw in, take a fascinating look at the stars through the telescope at the nearby Norman Lockyer Observatory

Explore Dartmoor’s stunning wilderness.  Wander through lofty granite outcrops – the Tors – or discover ancient Bronze Age settlements.  There are gorges, waterfalls and wild ponies grazing in moorland heather.  Picnic by the stepping stones of a crystal clear stream or snuggle up by a crackling log fire of a centuries old Ale House.

Lyme Regis, 10 miles away, with its busy harbour supplies many local restaurants with plenty of delicacies from the sea – definitely worth sampling.  Lyme’s sea cliffs are of particular interest with their rich cache of fossils being revealed by constant erosion.
